Bio
David Wurm (b. 2000 in Hamburg) is a German violinist acclaimed for his performances both as a soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared in prestigious concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle Hamburg, giving his solo recital debut at the Elbphilharmonie in October 2024. His concert engagements have taken him across Europe including Sweden, Austria, Italy, and Cyprus as well as to China.
David performs regularly with pianist Levi Schechtmann as an established duo since 2014, presenting a wide range of recital programs. In addition to their classical concert programs, the two artists explore unconventional formats that combine classical works with electronic beats, developing innovative performance concepts that transcend genre boundaries and open up classical music to new audiences.
Since June 2022, he has served as concertmaster of the Albert Schweitzer Youth Orchestra, where he combines artistic leadership with the mentorship of young musicians. In addition, he has held concertmaster positions with the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie and the International Mendelssohn Summer School Festival Orchestra. He is also a founding member of the Hamburg Chamber Orchestra.
David Wurm began his studies at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre at the age of 14 as a junior student at the Andreas Franke Academy. In 2024, he completed his Bachelor’s degree under Prof. Christoph Schickedanz. He graduated from the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in 2019. Since 2014, he studied with renowned musicians such as Tanja Becker-Bender, Niklas Liepe, David Gilham, Eberhard Feltz, Gabriele Cervone, Lihay Bendayan and Niklas Schmidt.

David Wurm’s musical achievements have been recognized with numerous awards, including first prize at the national competition "Jugend musiziert Bundes-wettbewerb" in the solo violin category. Since February 2020, he has been supported by Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Hamburg e.V. He has participated in studio productions for NDR and Deutschlandfunk Kultur, appeared on television (NDR’s DAS!) and contributed to CD recordings. He also regularly serves as a jury member for Jugend musiziert in Hamburg. David Wurm performs on a violin by Giovanni Dollenz (Trieste, 1855).
