Born in 2000 in Hamburg, David Wurm has performed as a violinist in prestigious concert venues such as the Elbphilharmonie, the Laeiszhalle, and the CCH Hamburg. In October 2024, he made his solo recital debut at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, alongside his duo partner Levi Schechtmann (piano). David Wurm regularly performs in Germany and is also active across Europe. He has played in countries including Sweden, Austria, and Italy, and has been featured in various solo concerts in renowned venues.
Since June 2022, he has served as concertmaster of the Albert Schweitzer Youth Orchestra, where he combines artistic direction with the mentoring of young musicians. In this role, he frequently takes on solo performances. In addition, he is founding member of the Hamburg Chamber Orchestra. As concertmaster, he collaborated with the Junge Norddeutsche Philharmonie, the International Mendelssohn Summer School Festival Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.
David Wurm's musical achievements have been recognized with several awards, including first prize at the Bundeswettbewerb Jugend musiziert in the category of solo violin. As early as 2014, he recorded works for the radio station NDR 90.3, and in 2017, he appeared on the NDR Hamburg show “Das!”. Since February 2020, he has been supported by "Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now" Hamburg e.V. Furthermore, he served as a juror at the 60th Landeswettbewerb Jugend musiziert Hamburg in March 2023. David Wurm plays on a Giovanni Dollenz (Trieste, 1855).
David Wurm began his training at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg (HfMT) at the age of 14 as a junior student at the Andreas Franke Academy. He completed his bachelor’s degree there in February 2024, studying under Prof. Christoph Schickedanz. He earned his Abitur in 2019 at the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium. Since 2014, David Wurm has participated in numerous master classes, studying with professors such as Tanja Becker-Bender, David Gilham, Eberhard Feltz, Kevork Mardirossian, Lihay Bendayan, Sebastian Schmidt, Rainer Schmidt, and Andreas Röhn.
